Caged

I watch my snake
Slide against the glass panels
Of her cage.
I wonder if she`s anxious?
Should I let her leave?
A wild animal belongs outside.
Not between four rectangular walls.
But, lo! So blind am I!
For I am an animal wild
Sliding through my cage.

The Animals

Sometimes briefly
You smelt the stink
How ever light;
How ever heavy the perfume.
Even the whisper of a breath
Caught the aftertaste
Of the creatures caged;
The animals withheld
By the closet artificial
Darkness their beady eyes
Bore through, like mirrors,
Like the abyss gazing back
Into you.
