with a dark cut
where my brow should be
and mumble dastardly verbs
about the happy know-nothings
surrounding me.
I watch my snake
Slide against the glass panels
Of her cage.
I wonder if she`s anxious?
Should I let her leave?
A wild animal belongs outside.
Not between four rectangular walls.
But, lo! So blind am I!
For I am an animal wild
Sliding through my cage.
Sometimes briefly
You smelt the stink
How ever light;
How ever heavy the perfume.
Even the whisper of a breath
Caught the aftertaste
Of the creatures caged;
The animals withheld
By the closet artificial
Darkness their beady eyes
Bore through, like mirrors,
Like the abyss gazing back
Into you.
I told them they had pretty smiles
I told them I was ready to die
They laugh and called me drunk
I laughed and told them "sure"
Absolutely without a doubt
I miss my old ways before I withered.
When my lungs would fill with seas of air
(Unpolluted)
Angels hair on my shoulders bare
(Unpolluted)
I long the days I knew once more
Before I slipped and died and wept.
The truth?
I cannot sleep
While you enjoy your life
Sadly I want you to be my misery
And come back down.
Sadly.
I'm a selfish motherfucker
